another weekend...

and not much knitting to speak of!

we had a very busy weekend around here with the exception of Friday night! Friday night we stayed in and relaxed, just still trying to get over our "extreme family time" of the past three weeks. i did work on the log cabin blanket as i promised myself i would. the problem now being that i am getting extremely annoyed with it, basically because it has been on the needles too long and i want to be done with it! the funny thing is, if you remember, when i first started this project i LOVED it! i was even planning on making more for other people and couldn't wait to get started on them! well, as of right now, the next log cabin blanket won't get started for quite awhile, as i am, like i said before...ANNOYED! **thinking to myself..."maybe if i make the next one with bigger needles and different yarn, then it would knit up a bit faster...no, stop thinking that way...!"

Saturday Kieran had his cooking class. he loves it! this is the second time we have had him in the class and he can't get enough of it! they cook something different every week and enjoy part of it in class and bring part of it home with them. this past class he brought home pigs in a blanket, which were made with cheese! i had never thought of making them that way before, but now i will have to try it, especially with it being football season! during his last session he made everything from soda bread to peanut butter kisses. the bonus to the class is that he won't make the same stuff this time around because the instructor changes the "menu" with the season. another plus is that she sends home the recipe with the kids, so i can always try it out here...

Saturday night we then headed out to Jim and Kim's house for an early dinner with the kids. so much fun to see Kieran playing with their kids, as they are 3 and 1 1/2. i always get a kick out of it because thus far Kieran is an only child! we had a good time with them and then we started to realize that before you know it the holidays will be here. we always go to their house on Christmas Eve for cocktails before we head to my sister's house for dinner, they only live 10 minutes from each other and they are on the way. just a funny thought, because we don't get out to their house that often, so we started to talk about the holidays and knew that would most likely be the next time we are at their house. pretty scary...**note to self....start thinking about Christmas gifts!**

yesterday was reserved for FOOTBALL!! my favorite time of year! and yes, the BEARS WON!!! i love to spend Sunday watching all of the pregame etc., best of all, i usually spend most of the my "football time" knitting! the only problem with yesterday was that we had some friends over to watch the Bears Game, which was at 3. now usually i will knit when Buffy and Billy are here because they are totally used to it and don't think twice about me knitting while they are here. however, yesterday we had Jen and Joe here with their 1 1/2 year old son, so there was a lot more running around and keeping up with Kieran and Josh. no big deal, i just didn't get knitting in, but that meant that i could enjoy some Bloody Mary's and a beer or two throughout the day because i can definitely NOT drink and knit! i wish i could, but i am not that talented! i see other people doing it sometimes when i am out on a Saturday afternoon, having a cocktail with friends, but then i wonder if they actually go home and rip apart their work, or are they just that good? oh well...something that i most likely will never achieve!

so here it is, Monday, and Kieran is getting ready to leave for school in a bit...and after i drop him off, i will be coming back here and get some knitting time in!

What a good idea, cooking classes for kids. My Granddaughter is just getting into helping her mom in the kitchen, she would probably like something like that too!

I have to laugh about the log cabin blanket thing, I haven't picked mine up since I decided it was taking too long and I was going to have to crochet an afaghan for the wedding gift last month. I think my first comment to you was about how I had started one also.
